A little about materials.
Currently, the production of kitchen furniture uses a wide range of materials – from wood to stone, from glass to chrome. All have different purposes and different wear resistance.
Let’s try to understand: the building and the facade. Kitchen cabinets are made of laminated chipboard or wood. Chipboard is cheaper and more resistant to moisture material.
The materials used to make the facade (Cabinet doors), more: chipboard (cheap and little practical option), MDF (middle class in price and high practicality), painted MDF (fashionable colored doors, expensive), aluminum profile (expensive), wood. The choice depends mainly on the owners ‘ desire and the amount they are willing to spend. If you do not want to overpay, but at the same time want the kitchen to last a long time – choose facades made of MDF. There is a lot to choose from, since some manufacturers offer about 50 shades. If you expect a decent amount and want a more modern kitchen, buy facades made of aluminum profile, painted (bent) MDF.
Countertops are also different, your choice of natural and artificial stone, chipboard, covered with plastic. The latter option is the most popular because of the average price and good quality (I recommend not thinner than 38mm). The color of the countertop is easy to choose due to the wide range of colors. Textures are also different: matte and glossy. Kitchen “apron”. Instead of the standard tile on the working surface of the wall, you can use special moisture-resistant wall panels that match the color of the countertop, which creates the impression of integrity of the design. Their cost is slightly higher than the price of even a very good tile, but they are easier to install and do not require pre-preparation of the walls. And they do not need special care – just periodically wipe them with a damp cloth. The service life stated by the manufacturer is 10 years. And a few words about accessories(handles, legs, etc.). There are variations for every taste and budget – from cheap plastic to chrome and wood. The choice of accessories should be taken seriously. For example, ordinary plastic handles “climb” and lose their color after a year or two. Therefore, you should not save on them – we recommend chrome handles, in addition, now it is a very fashionable option. Legs for furniture are also important, I advise you to choose legs that are adjustable in height (they are inexpensive). Now the accessories are presented in such quantity that even the most demanding customer can choose. There are even devices on the market that do not include handles at all. Thanks to special technology, doors and drawers are opened only with a light touch. And even heavily loaded, they are closed with a single movement of the hand. However, the price of such mechanisms is considerable.
Functionality-design, without a doubt, plays a significant role in choosing kitchen furniture. But the functionality of the kitchen set is still in the foreground. How to make the kitchen as spacious and comfortable as possible? Appliances. To begin with, the main rule of a functional kitchen is the “working triangle” rule. We are talking about the sequence of the location of household appliances. The ideal option is a refrigerator, washing center, stove, and between them there is at least 50 cm of table top. The logic is this: you take food out of the refrigerator, clean it, wash it, slice it, and fry it. This arrangement will allow you to make a minimum of movements and significantly speed up the cooking process. Here we presented the location of household appliances. Now let’s talk about the technique itself. Without a doubt, the built-in equipment is in the leading positions. It looks luxurious and combines many functions. For example, the built-in oven is equipped with a flame sensor that stops the gas supply if the fire dies out. Undoubtedly, it is convenient and safe. And hoods-telescopes, folding after use, do not get dirty and do not interfere. I would especially like to mention combined household appliances. They are suitable for small rooms. Imagine two in one: an oven is combined with a microwave, and a microwave is combined with a toaster. The space savings are obvious. It can be used for embedding other appliances-a dishwasher or washing machine. They are built under the common table top, which does not reduce the working area.
The layout of the kitchen implies a variety of options for the placement of the furniture itself.
The most popular is the l – shaped corner kitchen. It is also suitable for small kitchens, and due to the very roomy corner cabinets it becomes almost “bottomless”. In second place – the kitchen in one line. It is suitable for narrow spaces or for those who plan a large dining area. Fashionable options, but, unfortunately, suitable only for large rooms-island and peninsular kitchens. In the first one, an island is placed in the center of the room (usually a gas stove), in the second kitchen, the bar is most often the Peninsula.
There are also kitchen options in 2 lines (pass-through kitchen, does not provide a dining area) and U-shaped (along three walls). Think about which option is right for you.
Internal “filling”. In my opinion, this is also a very important point. Please think about what you will store in the kitchen set. It is important to provide everything – a drawer for pans (pull-out high), and drawers for Cutlery, and a place for a microwave (open shelf), and even a bottle holder. Thanks to the sliding systems, you can choose sliding, folding or folding doors. There is an option for small rooms-a pull-out additional table.
When choosing the internal device of the kitchen, be sure to ask how much weight a particular structure can withstand. This is important, since the overload of such a box can end in tears. It is believed that for the lower tier of kitchen furniture, it is more rational to use not cabinets with doors, but outgoing drawers. Making them different in height can be placed in each individual type of dish. For example, provide a high box for pans or a two-tier exit box for bulk products. In any case, it is better to think in advance what each drawer and Cabinet will serve you for. And remember that even a small space can be usefully used by purchasing retractable or rotary systems. They are not cheap, but significantly improve the functionality of kitchen furniture.
In parallel, imagine in which places it will be appropriate to place the backlight (above the sink, cutting table), or you will have enough top lighting.
In General, your desire is the law. And we have a lot of ways to satisfy any requests, we can’t count all of them. Therefore, imagine, plan and your kitchen will definitely turn out to be comfortable, cozy and harmonious.
